Northwest of Downtown Houston, lays a true Texas treasure; one that wishes for all to join in the search and discovery, the tiny township of Cypress Texas. Cypress is an unincorporated area of Harris County that is now one of Houston’s largest suburban communities, a far way from its earlier days as rural Texas land. Today’s Cypress is now one of area’s most residential and commercial friendly areas, catering to the needs of all of its diverse citizens.

Cypress History

People waiting for the trainCypress Texas is not only a Texas hidden treasure, but in fact might have some hidden treasure of its own. There is some folklore concerning Cypress and a band of traveling Mexicans. The story tells of a raid by local Native American tribes on this traveling group of Mexicans, who were carrying with them a good amount of fortune. While preparing to defend themselves from the oncoming attack, the travelers buried their treasures here within Cypress Texas. No body knows how the story ends for the Mexican fortune finders; all that is known is that the treasure is still buried within Cypress. To this day, eager searchers still comb the lands of Cypress, hoping to find the lost Mexican treasure while many others have already found another treasure in Cypress, Cypress itself. Since the early 1800’s, this rural Texas community has attracted a number of settlers. With the implementation of the railroad system through this region, Cypress began to grow at a rapid rate. Many changes have occurred to this sleep Texas town over the years, but one thing has always remained certain; the residents of Cypress both past, present and future, have and will always appreciate the heritage and history of their little Texas Township.
