Teeming with excellent educational opportunities, great commercial districts, the finest dining, scenic outdoor locales and some of the area’s most diverse leisure activities, Spring Texas as become one of this region’s fastest and most stable developing communities. Spring Texas is home to Splashtown the only amusement park in the Houston metropolitan area. Spring has become such a popular residential and commercial destination within the Houston Metro Area because of the town’s already established amenities and resources and additional ones available through the close proximity to both the city of Houston and The Woodlands .
Spring History
Originally called “El Orcoquisac” by early Spanish traders in the region, the area of Spring Texas stated off as a mere trading post town before becoming the residential wonder it is today. After winning its independence from Mexico, Texas began to flourish under its new found freedom. In the year 1836, the same year Texas was freed, Houston was established as a city on the banks of the Buffalo Bayou. Some forty years later, the railroad came through this region of Texas and when its tracks were laid town in and around Houston, the area began to experience a development increase. The area of Spring also experienced much of this growth, the whole township began to become the base of operations for the railroad companies, workers and businessmen alike. This was a time referred to as Old Town Spring, and to this day, many buildings and sites remain from the younger days of Old Town Spring. So many sites in fact, Old Town Spring is voted as one of Texas top attractions every year.
Spring Parks & Recreation
Spring, the notable residential community that it is, also contains some of Texas’s best recreational and entertainment activities. Besides the Houston Metro Area and all the fun that can be had in and around it, there are several city and county parks positioned around the city as well. All of them equipped with the basic amenities like picnic areas, playgrounds, and various sporting fields and courts but they each have their own separate qualities and services that help them shine above all others in neighboring townships. Bayer Park
Bayer Park is a 30-acre facility with four lighted softball fields, seven lighted baseball fields, and rest room facilities.
Collins Park
The 55 Acre facility of Collins Park features five lighted softball fields, four lighted baseball fields, one unlighted soccer field, one lighted basketball pavilion, one sand volleyball court, two playgrounds, a skate park and many other features.
Klein Park
Klein Park is a seven-acre facility with four lighted ball fields, rest room facilities and is the spot for summer time family fun.
Myer Park
Meyer Park is a 286-acre facility with 16 unlighted soccer fields, ten lighted soccer fields, two unlighted softball fields, a basketball court, barbecue pavilion, a gazebo and many other key features.
Southwell Park
Southwell Park is a five-acre facility with one lighted basketball pavilion, a barbecue pavilion, a community building, a playground, picnic tables, barbecue grills, and rest room facilities.
Spring Local Events
There are plenty of local events in Spring, with something for everyone to enjoy. Below are listed just a sampling of the diverse events held every year in Spring Texas.
SpringFest, Wine, Art & Food Festival
Some of Texas’ finest wineries showcase their crafts at the yearly SpringFest, Wine, Art & Food Festival.
Texas Crawfish & Music Festival
One of the largest and most established crawfish festivals in the South, the Texas Crawfish & Music Festival features live entertainment from some of the top country, blues, zydeco and rock acts on three stages, carnival rides, midway games and activities for kids of all ages.
LongHorn Rod Run
Over 500 custom muscle cars will be on display in Old Town Spring and car buffs of all ages will be on hand to browse and admire during the LongHorn Rod Run festival.
Pet Fest
Pet Fest is a weekend long Old Town Spring event, where a number a volunteers search for homes for many wonderful animals.
Home for the Holidays
Spring Texas goes all for the Christmas season during the Homes for the Holidays event. Over 150 shops decorated with red bows, thousands of twinkling lights and ropes of garland will welcome visitors to another season of unique gift shopping for Christmas.

Located at Thyme Square on Noble Street, the Civil War Museum is open to the public Tuesday through Sunday.

The 54-hole golf facility of Cypresswood Golf Club is one of the most prominent daily fee golf complexes in the Southern United States.
